Mattie Ruth Gammill was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 3, 1946 the daughter of the late George Rosevelt and Lina B. Shelby Stricklin.
On April 9,1977 she was united in marriage to William Dewey Gammill, who survives.
Mrs. Gammill worked as a sewing machine operator for Savannah Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Savannah Church of Nazarene. Mrs. Gammill enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved traveling to the mountains and Florida every summer when she was able with her special family, Jodie and Ricky Carroll. She had special children she called hers, Dallas McDonald, Leela McDonald, Jaxon Rose, and London Rose.
Mrs. Gammill departed this life on January 17, 2016 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 14 days.
In addition to her husband William of 38 years, she is survived by one brother, Hurbert D. Stricklin of Savannah, Tennessee and one sister, Lillie Pearl Stricklin Wesson of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Hardin Stricklin, William Rose Stricklin and Thomas Richardson Stricklin.
