Mattie Regina “Tweety” Gipson McClendon passed away at her residence in Centre, AL on Tuesday, Oct. 19th, 2021. She was born July 15, 1946 to parents, Buford York Gipson and Dora Lee Simmons Lorren. Tweety worked for South Central Bell after graduating from high school as an operator. She was with the “love of her life”, Jimmy McClendon, for almost 50 years. Tweety enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with family, shopping and loving her animals.
She is preceded in death by parents and husband, Jimmy Sloan “Mac” McClendon. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Lee Pruitt; brother, William York Gipson (Linda); step-daughters, Kelly McClendon, Wendy King (Todd) and Stacey Strauss (Frank); seven grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandson; caregiver, Kelly McClendon; nieces, Marlisa Weeks (Keith) and Misty Partain (Dave); great-niece, Lindsay Partain; great-nephews, Blake Weeks (Andrea) , Chase Weeks (Candace) and Trey Partain
