Mattie Lou Johnson, age 83 of Arab Alabama died Tuesday December 27, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Johnson was born March 25, 1933 in Marshall County to Charlie Lee Blackmon and Ollie Mae Weaver Blackmon. She was a homemaker. Her husband Elvert Delwyne Johnson preceded her in death on January 13, 2012. She enjoyed shopping and taking care of her grandchildren.
She was a member of Twelfth Avenue Church of God.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Jan and David Hamilton; brother and sister-in-law: Shirrel and Virginia Blackmon; sisters: Corene West and Peggy Rickles; grandchildren: Lauren and Seth Lund, Jessica and Jacob Alldredge, Austin Hamilton; great grandchildren: Evelyn Alldredge and Olivia Lund. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elvert Delwyne Johnson; her son: Keith Dewayne Johnson; her brothers: Charlie Lee Blackmon Jr. and Bobby Joe Blackmon; sisters: Ella Idell Edwards, Betty Bell and Glenda Faye Watwood.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 29, 2016 at Twelfth Avenue Church of God with Brothers: Charles Ervin and Joe Stephenson, officiating. She will lie-in-state at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Watwood, Richard West, Gary West, Mike Rickles, Marty Beal and Jacob Alldredge.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel
