Mattie Hand, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. A dedicated nurse, Mattie devoted her career to caring for others at Boaz Nursing Home, the old Guntersville Hospital, and ultimately retired from the state Health Department. She was a cherished member of Alder Springs Church of Christ.
Mattie is survived by her loving husband, David Hand; her daughter, Annie (Delwyn) Perry; her son, Billy Hand, and Kayla Sterling. She was a proud grandmother to Cory Perry, Matthew Perry, and Lilly Perry.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ozeller and Arnie Smith; her sister, Martha Williams; and her brother, Bud Smith.
Mattie was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
