Mattie Faye Helton, 86, of Iuka, MS, died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Helton was the oldest living charter member of Fifth Street Baptist Church. She was a long-time local beautician and was the owner/operator of Faye’s Beauty Shop for 50 years. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and especially loved working in her flower beds. Faye was known for caring for others in their time of need, but the main focus in her life was God and “her boys”. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dellus Helton of Iuka; two sons, Roger Helton (Donna) of Iuka, and Lynn Helton (Kay) of Sheffield, AL; one sister, Maye Floyd of Iuka; three grandchildren, Sean Helton (Anna) of Iuka, Jason Helton (Amanda) of Sheffield, AL, and Andrew Helton (Olivia) of Fairhope, AL; five great-grandchildren, Julianna Helton, Quinlan Helton, Chance Helton, Summerlin Helton, and River Cook; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrrel Dewey and Annie Maye Selman Nunley; two brothers, Mose Dewey Nunley and George Nunley; a sister, Myrtle Curtis; a great-granddaughter, Natalie Helton; a daughter-in-law, Portia Helton; and a grandson, Charles Cook. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Monday, September 24, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, at Fifth Street Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Tony Curtis. The body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
