  Matthew Thomas Pinion Profile PhotoMatthew Thomas Pinion was born September 3, 1980 in Memphis, TN the son of the late Robert Thomas (Bobby) and Deborah Jolly Pinion.

 Matthew was formerly employed as a lead deck hand on the “Jackie O’Neal,” operated by American Commercial Lines on the lower Mississippi River. He enjoyed his work and loved being on the river for as long as he was able. Cooking and taking care of his children were the two things he enjoyed most in life.

Matthew departed this life on July 9, 2024 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 43 Years, 10 Months, 6 Days. He is survived by six children: Jud Thomas Lawson and wife Kaycee of Corinth, MS, Madison Johnson and husband Damon of Olive Branch, MS, Landon Pinion of Olive Branch, MS, Layna Pinion, Gemma Pinion, and Fiona Pinion; two granddaughters, Makyia and Makynlee; one grandson, Major; three aunts; one uncle; two nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and numerous extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Matthew was preceded in death by a sister, Amy Huffman.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
