Mary Virginia Wylie May, 95, of Florence, passed away November 5, 2023 at her residence. She was a life-long resident of Lauderdale County and a Charter Member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she loved being a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. May worked at Florence Utilities with 39 years of service and retired as Supervisor of the Electricity Department.
A visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 12-1:15 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Park with Brother Ashley Pettus officiating.
Mrs. May was preceded in death by her husband, William P. May; father, Edgar Wylie; mother, Sally Kathleen Roberson; and sister, Dorothy Ward.
She is survived by her sons, William Edwin May (Laura), Foley, AL, and Richard Alan May (Elke), Northport, AL; daughter, Gina May Buffaloe, Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Wesley May (Erin), Philadelphia, PA, Ashley May, Foley, AL, Blake Buffaloe, Las Vegas, NV, and Cory Buffaloe, Florence, AL, Amber Hughes (Preston), Tuscaloosa, AL, and Heather Gregory (Greg), Tuscaloosa, AL; and 7 great-grandchildren including her best buddy, Carver Buffaloe.
