Mary Sue Hopkins, 71 of Somerville, passed away on January 5, 2024.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Sue Hopkins (Sue) seventy-one of Somerville, AL woke peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus Friday morning January 5, 2024.
Mary was born November 26, 1952 to Lloyd and Sarah Kent in Chicago, IL The largest part of Mary’s life was being a stay-at-home mom. There she helped raise not only her own children but grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless others that were and were not related to
her. She was “momma” to all.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of fifty (50) years, James Hopkins. Her parents, Lloyd and Sarah Kent. Sisters, Carolyn Kent, Sarah Daniel, Pamela Hopkins and brothers, Marty Kent, William Kent, Donnie Kent. Great granddaughter Madisyn Echols.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Teresa Hardiman (Scott), son, Timothy Hopkins (Aubrey). Five (5) grandchildren, Amanda Counts, Wesley Hopkins, Preston Hopkins, Makenlee Hopkins, Jocelynn Hopkins. Two (2) great grandchildren Lauren Echols, Karlee Echols. Sisters Evelyn Hopkins, Anita Abbett, Tammy Busby and brother, Ronnie Kent.
Visitation will be at Berryhill Funeral Home Tuesday January 9, 2024. Family 5:30 pm and friends 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be at Berryhill Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday January 10, 2024. Service will begin at 11:00 am. Graveside will immediately follow at Mount Olive Church Cemetery, 15030 US Highway 231 Union Grove, AL 35175.
