Mary Sewell McClain, age 95, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024.A visitation for Mrs. Mcclain will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901. Following the visitation there will be a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Don Young and Rev. Tyson Burroughs will officiate.
She will be laid to rest in Forrest Cemetery.
Mrs, McClain was a 1947 graduate of Gadsden High School. She worked at Williams Furniture Company and later worked at Sherwin Williams Paints. She was past president of Gadsden Women’s Credit Union and a longtime member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death was her father, Uzell McCullars; mother, Gussie McCullars; brother, Clyde McCullars; sister, Adilene Thrasher; first husband, W.M. “Red” Sewell and second husband, Carl McClain.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and their families; step sons, Cym McClain and Lee McClain.
Pallbearers will be Matt Ford, Andrew Ford, Mark Yancy, Lenn Hill, Terry Williams, Daryl Jones, David Thrasher, W.C. McCullars, Jeff Anthony, Jeff McCullars, Christopher Thrasher and Dr. Stephen Thrasher.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Don and Debbie Young; neighbors; Twelfth Street Baptist Church Members; Dr. James Ford, Jr. and all personal friends.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Goodwin, Dr. Dabbs and Dr. Patel.
