She and Harold moved frequently while he served in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, they moved to Starkville for him to attend MSU. While there, Scottie worked for the housing department in Lee Hall and earned what she called her PHT – “Putting Hubby Through”.
They lived in Decatur, Alabama for 16 years where they raised their 3 children. They were charter members of Covenant Presbyterian Church and developed many lifelong friendships there. They have had annual gatherings with their Covenant friends in Montreat, North Carolina for over 40 years calling themselves the “Over the Hill Gang”.
They have spent the last 32 years happily residing back in Starkville, actively participating at First Presbyterian Church, and enjoying all things MSU. Scottie loved to host tailgates with her children, grandchildren and as many friends as they wanted to bring along. Scottie enjoyed bowling and playing bridge in her younger years. She made her home a beautiful haven for her family and friends with her hospitality, decorating, and seamstress skills.
