Mary Saxon GibbsFuneral services for Mary Saxon Gibbs, age 95 of Oxford, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Oxford. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mamaw Gibbs stepped into Heaven on March 19, 2024.
Mrs. Gibbs was born November 9, 1928, in Randolph County, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Garfield “Dutch” Saxon and Bertha Lowe Saxon; husband, Benjamin Franklin “BF” Gibbs; grandson, Nathan Todd Gibbs; and son-in-law, Eddy Kennedy.
She was a resident of Oxford, AL for over 70 years and was employed as a seamstress for many years, but was best known for her biscuits at Sneaky Pete’s in Anniston. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, loved her Sunday school class, gardening, flowers, and truly loved her family. She was a great cook, and she loved her puzzles.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Roger Gibbs (Lynn), and daughters, Martha Kennedy and Anita Davenport (Alex); grandchildren, Zac Gibbs (Jennifer), Russ Gibbs, Kelley Snider (Bruce), Shane Kennedy (Teresa), Jordan Davenport (Katie), Laura Cleveland (Garrett), and Garrett Davenport; great grandchildren, Gunner, Hudson, Turner Gibbs, Kate Gibbs, Ryan Abernathy (Kelli), Braxton Snider, Salee, Saxon, and Saige Kennedy, and Wyatt Davenport; and great great grandchildren, Kennedy and Ryland Abernathy.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Oxford Senior Citizens Center or Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
