Mary Maxwell passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, from an extended and hard fought illness.
She was born to Chester and Lidie Barr on November 28, 1947 in Huntsville, AL. Even though her failing health took her away from this world, her loving heart left a beacon of light for her family.
Mary is survived by her son, Howard Eugene “Skeeter” Smith; and daughter-in-law, Angie Smith; her siblings, Michelle Ricketts, Cliff Barr, Linda Driscoll, and Julie Barr; her grandchildren, Cameron Driscoll, Angela Christina Smith Thomas, Mary Ann Smith, and Doyle Smith; great-granddaughter, Alisha Childers; great-great-granddaughter, Penelope Childers; and her niece, Sarah Driscoll.
Now that Mary has passed into the arms of our Lord, her physical life on Earth is over, but it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.
A short graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Maple Hill Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice’s medical staff for caring for Mary in her last months. It is with great appreciation for Amber Daniels who cared for this amazing woman.
