It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary M. Cross, a remarkable woman whose fierce attitude and loving spirit touched the lives of many. Mary passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born on April 7th 1935, Mary was known for her unwavering strength, fiery personality, and a heart that overflowed with love for her family. Mary’s resilience was evident in every aspect of her life, inspiring all who knew her.

Mary was the beloved mother of three daughters, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her love to her daughters were boundless, and she took immense pride in their achievements and the strong, compassionate women they became.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary’s face would light up with pure delight whenever they entered the room. Her laughter and warmth were contagious, as she would chase them around the house. She created cherished memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who adored their Nana and GG immensely.

Mary’s legacy of love, strength, and fierce spirit will live on through her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who carry forward her warmth and vibrant energy.

She was preceded in death by father, Frank Joseph Mastrangelo; mother, Julia Mastrangelo; brothers, Alfonso and Frankie; and sisters, Ethel Craig, Eleanor Poe, and Michaeline McKinnen.

Surviving are brothers, Robert “Bobby” and Patrick; sisters, Gloria Dupuis, Amelia Smelow and Devida Matchett; children, Angela Rae Black (Rex), Amie Beth Waldschmidt (Stan), and Tina Hope Morales (Chris McBride); grandchildren, Ashley Chesak, Kristina Goodman, Robert Crawford Jr., Brandon Black, Johnathan Waldschmidt, Colby Trenton Barker (Kylee South), and Colten Devon Barker (Emilie); great grandchildren, Jalynn, Elizabeth, Kaile, Tyler, Carsen, Tristan, Maylee, Casen, Kyalinn, and Aria; and extended family, Robert Crawford Sr., Kay Crawford, and Brooke.

Visitation will be Saturday 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cove Baptist Church. Services will be held at Cove Baptist Church, Saturday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Browner officiating.

Interment will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
