Mary Louise Cribbs Feb. 4, 1934 – Aug. 18, 2024
Mary was born in Jacksonville, Florida to CPO Lawerence G. (Mickey) Ryan USCG and Mary Rebecca Moore Ryan. She was later adopted by her stepfather Anothony Joseph Bruvelle.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her father- Lawrence Ryan, Mother- Mary Ryan Brevelle, stepfather – Anothony Brevelle, daughter- Carolyn Rebecca Bryant, grandson – Aaron Michael Sidney, and husband John Allen Cribbs.
Mary attended Fernandina Elementary School, Fernandina, Florida and later graduated from Pensacola High School, Pensacola, Florida. She went on to graduate from Florida State University with a Bachelors I Education in 1956. She attended college on a full academic scholarship.
Mary married Richard Mabry Bryant Jr. of Moultrie, Georgia and began a teaching career in Perry, Florida.
In 1961, she had her first daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bryant (Singley) and in1964, she had her second daughter, Carolyn Rebecca Bryant.
The family moved several times in Florida and, 1966 moved to Georgia in the Atlanta area.
Mary left teaching and was then employed at Mead Packaging and later by Georgia Technical Institute.
She married John Cribbs in 1982. He retired from Georgia Tech in 1987, and they moved to Ardmore, Tennessee. They made their home on a farm with a 100-year-old Farmhouse. Where they found much pleasure with the restoration process.
Mary and John exhibited their deep love and appreciation of their 200+ acre farm by signing a conservation easement with the Land Trust of Tennessee thereby protecting their farm from being developed in perpetuity.
Over the years, Mary has enjoyed her many dogs and cats who all “adopted” her as their owner. She was active in the community in various activities. The most important being the Ardmore Public Library. She was also a poll worker for Giles County Election Commission for over 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Elizabeth Singley and son-in-law Jimmy Singley of Middleburg, Florid, grandchildren – Jonathan Pruett of Georgia, Bryant Maddox of North Carolina, Taylor Singley of Middleburg, Florida. Kristen Wooden-Laird of South Carolina, & 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by stepdaughter-Diana Burns (Mickey) of Florida and stepson Michael Cribbs (Tina) of Florida, 3 Step grandchildren and 7 great step grandchildren.
