A service honoring Mary Lou Schaffer, age 92 of Cullman, will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Freeman officiating. A burial at Sacred Heart Cemetary will immediately follow. Visitation with family will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Schaffer passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Cullman Health and Rehab Care Center. She was born on November 4, 1931, to Rev. Melvin and Gladys (Vick) Duncan in Nauvoo, Alabama.
Mary Lou was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and shared her love for others during her years of service at hospitals, nursing homes, and churches in Florida and Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Schaffer, parents, and siblings, Terry Duncan, Carlon Duncan, Larry Duncan and Mildred (Duncan) Wood.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Gay and Robert (Sandi) Gay; stepsons Dennis (Vicky) Schaffer and Perry (Wendy) Schaffer; stepdaughter, Belinda Boone; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, four step-great-children, and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Roger (Gloria) Duncan; and brother-in-law’s, Herbert Schaffer and Fred Schaffer.
