Mary Jo Patterson Mary Jo Patterson, 83, passed away October 13, 2023, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. The eldest of 3, Mary Jo was born into a humble family. After meeting and marrying her sweetheart at just 16, they spent the next 67 years creating and living a life of love and dedication. From the love of basketball, horses, food, and family, she lived a rich life filled with the things most dear to her. Known for being an amazing cook it was not uncommon to hear, “Mommie, are you cooking today?” And she’d always reply, “yeah…what cha want hon?” When it was her fried chicken, potato salad, green beans, and sometimes a “plain cake”, everyone was sure to be there. She loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed pageants, her flowers, and years working at the antique store.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughters, Wanda Ferguson(Joe), Rhonda Mayo, Angie Crouch(Steve), and Lori Corbin(Tommy); 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Billy Rex Patterson; parents, Clifford Leon and Leola Enis Putt; a baby sister, Deborah Kay; two brothers, Melvin and Douglas Putt; a much-loved son-in-law, James Mack “Jimmy” Mayo; and her beloved grandson, Robert Alexander “Alex” Mayo.
Services will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 5PM at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. David Hamilton officiating. Visitation will begin at 3PM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Brad Mayo, Joey Ferguson, Jordan Ferguson, Kevin Brazil, Josh Graham, Patrick Ferguson, Noah Corbin, Jonah Corbin, Micah Butler, and David Henry.
