Mary Jane McCuin Dean – Obituary

Mary Jane McCuin Dean, age 93 of Sheffield, died Friday, February 24, 2017. Her family will receive friends Sunday, February 26th from 2 until 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with Dr. Randy Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Mrs. Dean was born and raised in Des Arc, Arkansas. After graduating from the University of Alabama, she was employed in the lab at Standard Oil in Baton Rouge until she met her husband of 60 years, Dexter Coley Dean, who preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Dean was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia for over 50 years. She was an avid cook, Bridge player, and a wonderful mother who loved her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Whitlock (Buddy), Eleanor Jane Morton (Bill) and Patricia Diane Dean; niece, Lynda Maye Milligan; grandchildren, Amelia Jane Morton, Ruth Ann Jochum (Jon), William Dean Morton (Kim), Wilson Coley Whitlock, Benjamin McCuin Whitlock; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Mason Morton, June and Emmett Jochum.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Hughston, Ron Hudson, Steve Finch, Al Willis, Dr. Larry Stutts, and Jimmy Barnett.

Honorary pallbearers are Amos Malone, Sherry Winford, Jap Patton, Bill Lacey and Hal Hughston.

The Dean family would like to express special thanks to Laven Coffey, Linda Neloms, Mary Bailey, Lelia McDade, Gayzel Pride, Verborie Shaw and attending physician, Dr. Jack McLendon.
