Obituary of Mary James Baker Mary James Baker, 90, has left this life and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a devoted Christian who attended Trinity Baptist Church and took comfort in knowing the Lord was watching over her.

A visitation for Mary will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home & Roselawn Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM. Mary will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Grady James, Sr., mother, Vena Erle Dansby James; and three sisters, Betty (James) Rice, Grace (Robert) Fagan and Carnell (Bud) Appleton.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Vicki Vandervelde; son, Richard L. (Daphne) Baker, Jr., brother, Lewis Grady (Bonnie) James Jr.; sister, Barbara Henderson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Samantha) Garrison, Amber Garrison, Jessica (Salvy) Sanchez, Brittany (Clint) Coggin, and Brooke (AJ) McNutt; and great grandchildren, Kaylee Garrison, Aby Garrison, Adaline Small, Noah Coggin, Oaklyn McNutt, Parker McNutt and Brayden McNutt.

Mary loved everyone and had a special love for all children. She spent much of her life as a caregiver for children and retired from Wesley Stay-N-Play in Decatur.

In lieu of flowers, her family has asked that you donate to Meals on Wheels, Hospice of the Valley or to Trinity Baptist Church in Trinity, AL., in her memory.
