Mary Hart Thompson Brown, age 63, passed on to her heavenly home on December 10, 2023. Ms. Brown was a lifelong resident of Huntsville and was a 1978 graduate of Huntsville High School. She received her BSN degree from Birmingham Southern College and began her nursing career after graduation. She had the privilege of working in many areas of nursing but her favorites were working alongside her father, Dr. Ira Duke Thompson, in his family practice, and later working alongside her sister, Dr. Melinda Thompson, in her medical practice.
Mary Hart was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Ira Duke Thompson and her brother, Ira Duke Thompson Jr. She is survived by her mother, Mary Edith Butler Thompson; her sisters, Melinda Thompson and Lane Herrington; her daughter, Mary Margaret Lankford (Boyd); son, Cameron Brown; her grandchildren, Mary Harmon Lankford, William Bryant Lankford, Henry Coleman Lankford and her newest grandson, Judson Thomas Lankford, who is set to arrive in February; as well as many close friends she considered family.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
