Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mary Glendon Thorn, age 87 of Estill Springs. Mrs. Thorn was born August 17, 1934 to the late Haskel and Georgia Foster. She passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on August 22, 2021, surrounded by her family. Glendon was a homemaker, loved to crochet, scrapbook, cook and she was a faithful member of Riva Lake Baptist Church where she served her Lord and Savior for 34 years. She loved working with the children and served in the church nursery for several years. She also served on the hostess committee, sang in the choir and served as an Awana leader for 10 years in Sparks. Glendon loved everyone and always made them welcome in her home. Her door was always open and when anyone visited they would be met with a cup of coffee, glass of iced tea and a delicious desert she had prepared and ready to serve. Being a mother of 5 children, she always had a house full of children. Many mornings she would awake to prepare breakfast for her children and there would be several extra mouths to feed because everyone had brought home a friend or two. She was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. She loved her Lord deeply and anyone who spent time with her knew it. She is going to be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Mary Glendon is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; granddaughter, Stacy Marie; parents, Haskel and Georgia foster; sisters, Alberta Coker, Clara Bob Thurman and Ruby Davis; brothers, Albert (Pocket) Foster and William Kenneth foster. She is survived by her children, James (Pam) Thorn of Lowell, IN, Terry Thorn of Winchester, Tony Thorn of Winamac, IN, Christie (Steve) Stewart of Estill Springs and Karen Benton of Winchester. She also leaves a brother, Ralph (Shirley) Foster of Manchester; grandchildren, Jimmy and Timothy Thorn, Shelby Stewart, Nikki , Amanda, Sara and Jeffrey Benton; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Tuesday August 24, 2021 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday August 25, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the Watson-North Chapel.
