Mary Glasgow Cooley passed away peacefully on Sunday morning May 7, 2023.
The daughter of Albert and Helen Glasgow, Mary was born on December 12, 1932. She graduated from McAdory High School. Mary was married to Virgil Thomas (Tommy) Cooley until his early passing in 1977. As the wife of a military Chaplain, she traveled the world and made many close friends.
Mary was loved and is survived by her three children and their families: Steve (Kim) Cooley, Karen (Pat) Driskell, and Scott (Paula) Cooley, grandchildren Josh Driskell, Jon and Annie Driskell, Greg Cooley, Christine Driskell and Alex Pate, Alexis Cooley, Alex and Kellie Cooley, Eric Cooley, Madeline Cooley, and great-grandchildren Ciaran Driskell, Hal Driskell, Maralee Dannemiller, Everett Dannemiller, Aspen Merriman and Sulaiman Driskell.
Mary was the consummate Southern Lady – charming, gracious, polite, and fiercely loyal and protective of her family and friends.
She will be missed.
Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Morgan United Methodist Church, 2701 Morgan Rd, Bessemer, AL followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. She will join many other members of her family at Genery’s Gap Cemetery next to 4317 S Shades Crest Road.
Pallbearers will be Josh Driskell, Christine Driskell, Alex Pate, Alexis Cooley and Chris Cooley.
