Mary Gertrude Miller Yates, 76, born November 27, 1946, passed away May 6, 2023. Mary was a native of Big Cove, AL. She was the daughter of Haden Miller and Delilla Deaton Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James Yates; her sister, Elaine Miller Woodling (Arthur); her brother, Duane Miller (Betty); two nephews, Latham Woodling (Laura) and Adam Miller; and one great nephew, Jackson Miller.
Mary was a gentle and loving wife, sister, and friend to all that met and got to know her. She was an active member of West Huntsville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a proud and active member of the Eastern Star, Solar Chapter 545, O.E.S., where she served as an officer numerous times. She graduated from Madison County High School, class of 1966.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the service immediately following in the chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
