Mary Frances Stone – Obituary

Funeral services for Mary Frances Stone, 92, of Athens will be Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at noon at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Dr. Fred Lackey officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Stone, who died Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Limestone Health Facility, was born June 25, 1921, in Limestone County to Vance Elmore and Evie May McBay Elmore. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens for 76 years, where she was a member of the WMU. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Stone; one son, Gilbert Newby; two grandsons, Benjamin Newby and Michael Brandon Newby; three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her three sons, Paul Newby and wife, June, of Decatur, Billy Wayne Newby of Huntsville and Mike Newby and wife, Brenda, of Athens; three daughters, Mary Jean Duncan of Harvest, Claudine Newby Dean of Athens and Carolyn Barley and husband, Billy Ray, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson, Randy Stone of Hartselle; 15 grand- children and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Victor Duncan, Tim Dean, Brett Barley, Josh Newby, Chris Newby and Keith Newby.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Fain, Ken Newby, Rodney Newby, David Shelton and R.B. Newby.
