Mary Frances Smith Simmerman, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in the Nutbush Community on Monday, April 27, 2020. There will be a private family graveside service on Friday, May 1, 2020, with Bro. Lonnie Robinson officiating. She was born on February 7, 1931 to Casper and Nora Bell Golighty Smith. She and her husband owned Simmerman Sheet Rock Co. and worked together in family business for many years. Family was important to her and she leaves them with their favorite memory of feeding chickens, coloring pages, playing dress-up, finding treasures in the attic and making sure they always had pencils and socks. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Parsons (Wayne) of Covington, TN, two sisters, Martha Leatherwood of Corinth, MS and Elizabeth Burns of Selmer, TN. She leaves a legacy of love for her grand-children, Lisa Yates, Johnnie Elizabeth “Beth” Wright (Dee), Becky Gray (Tim), Andy Simmerman (Stacy), Heather Herring (Trey), 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Simmerman; her parents, Casper and Nora Bell Smith; son, Jerry L. Myers; step-son, Ernest A. Simmerman; two brothers Perry Smith and Charles Smith; and two sisters Carolyn Cooper and Gloria Morgan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
