Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Faye Hanners McVey, age 90 of Cragford, will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church Lineville with Bro. Raymond Long and Bro. Kenneth Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Ms. McVey was a native and life- long resident of Clay County, and a respected lady by all that knew her. She had the all the traits of a traditional southern Christian lady, including being a wonderful cook, and was known to prepare 64 biscuits every morning for her family and anyone else that happened to stop by. She was an honest, caring, person to everyone she met, and always strived to rise above her circumstances. Living out her faith, loving and taking care of her family was of the highest importance to her. She was homemaker and also considered a “domestic engineer” for handling the challenges and blessings of raising a large family in the country.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Norma Faye McVey Owens, Martha McVey Price (Gary), Sandra McVey Crawford, all of Cragford; 5 sons, Marvin McVey (Jeannie) of Delta, Johnny McVey (Sheila) of Mellow Valley, Ricky McVey (Rhonda) of Lineville, Joe McVey of Cragford, and Troy McVey of Jacksonville, Florida: 38 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Omega McDonald (Vernon) of Forest Park, Georgia.
Ms. McVey is preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Hanners and Josie Cotney Hanners; her husband, Bill McVey, 4 sons, Ray, Charles, Larry, and Israel McVey; 4 grandchildren, Donald Ray McVey, April Morris, Carla JoAnn McVey, Justin Marvin McVey: one great grandchild, Destiny Denise McVey; and 5 sisters, Ruby, Jessie, Betty, Fannie Gay, and Mae; and 3 brothers, J.W., Adron, and James McVey; and 8 infant children.
Pallbearers for Ms. McVey will be family and friends
Her visitation will take place on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville, and until 1 hour prior to services at the church.
