Mary Elizabeth Vann Jones age 84, passed away November 9, 2022, at her home.
She was born October 19, 1937, in Madison County, the daughter of the late Clyde and Nancy Mitton Vann. She grew up and attended schools in Madison County. She married William Jones in 1955 and they made their home in Madison County. Mr. Jones passed away in 1993. She made her home with her daughter Diane since that time.
She was a homemaker who always did the best for her family with what she had. She will be dearly missed.
She was a Pentecostal in belief.
Mrs. Jones is survived by five daughters, Mary Diane Middleton of Reagan, Rosie McMahan of Selmer, Lynn Jones of Memphis, Lucille Jones (Lee) of Finger and Nancy Poe (Steven) of Selmer; two sons, William Jones (Geneva) of Selmer and Larry Jones of Clifton, TN; eighteen grandchildren, April, David, Brandon, Robert, Elizabeth, Janet, Melissa, Roger, Amanda, James, Amber, Betty, Sarah, Raven, Holly, Jay, Dustin, and Ramen; thirty-nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Terry Vann (Virginia) of Jackson and Harold Vann (Wanda) of Jackson; four sisters, Ruth York of Horn Lake, MS, Susie Horton (Ted) of Atwood, TN, Rhonda McDaniel (Terry) of Jackson and Alice Sauer of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son James Jones, four brothers, Billy Vann, Roy Vann, Danny Vann and Tommy Vann and three sisters, Linda Thomas, Ann Swann and Joyce Mann.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 11th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with James McKinney, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Enville.
The family will receive friends at East Main 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM service time Friday.
