Mary Elizabeth McMahan Cox Profile PhotoMary Elizabeth McMahan Cox was born in McNairy County of August 1, 1939, the daughter of the late William  Elmer McMahan and Icie Irene Weatherly McMahan.   She graduated from Selmer High School in 1958.  She was united in marriage to Carlos Lee Cox on August 5, 1967, who preceded her in death on  April 22, 2019.

She was employed at Brown Shoe Company, the pants factory in Bolivar, Selmer Apparel and Jetricks.  In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, homemaking, spending time with family and friends, and she looked forward to daily conversations with her sisters.  She always made everyone feel loved and accepted and was always smiling and talking.  She made you feel like you really mattered.  She was loved by everyone and was affectionately known as “Aunt Mary”.

She is survived by her son, Danny (Dana), Cox of Middleton and step daughter, Carla (Mike) Morrow of Walnut, MS; two sisters, Martha (Fulton) Huddleston of  Shawnee, KS and Julia Spoonmore of Plano, TX; three nieces and seven nephews and twenty great nieces and nephews; and her life long friend, Becky Hunter.  Mrs. Cox was also preceded in death by a brother, William Andrew McMahan.  At the end of the conversation, she would always say “I Love You and Don’t Forget It”.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Martha McMahan, Amy Wilbanks Crouse, Diane Flakes, and Legacy Hospice for their loving care.
