Mary Elizabeth DeBerry was born in Hardin County, Tennessee, February 25, 1926, the daughter of the late Joe Ben and Maude Sowell Jordan. On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to A. W. DeBerry, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 21, 2002.
Mrs. DeBerry lived in the Shiloh area all of her life, where she worked as a waitress for Ed Shaw’s Restaurant and also Hagy’s Catfish Hotel Restaurant for twenty years. She was a member of the Michie Primitive Baptist Church. She loved flowers, quilting and watching basketball.
Mrs. DeBerry departed this life on March 26, 2014 at Savannah Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 88 years, a month and 1 day.
She is survived by two sons, Larry DeBerry and Keith DeBerry, both of Shiloh, Tennessee; three grandchildren, William DeBerry, Robert DeBerry and Amanda Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Allie Rose DeBerry, Anna DeBerry, Alyssa DeBerry and Rose Taylor; and one sister, Joan Churchwell of Michie, Tennessee.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Carter Taylor; one sister, Wilma Ross and two brothers, J. B. Jordan and Lilburn Jordan.
