Mrs. Mary Doretha "Dody" Alexander Mary Doretha “Dody” Alexander, age 70, of Albertville, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 17, 1953, to the late Milton and Edna Duke. Doretha was a devoted member of Welcome Home First Congregational Methodist Church, where her faith shone brightly throughout her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Clyde Alexander, Jr., who stood by her side through thick and thin. Doretha leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her children: Chris Gilbreath (Lee Anna), Billy Alexander (Lance), and Sonya Palmer (Melissa). Her grandchildren, Emily Gilbreath, Sam Palmer, Dylan Mixon, and Austin Mixon, were the apple of her eye, bringing her immense joy and pride.
Doretha’s memory will also be cherished by her siblings, Jean Duke, Frank Duke, Lonnie Duke, and Kenneth Duke, along with a host of nieces and nephews who adored her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Doretha was preceded in death by her daughter, Angie Alexander, and siblings, Ernest Duke and Billy Duke. Although they have gone before her, their spirits undoubtedly welcome her with open arms in the afterlife.
A funeral service honoring Doretha’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 4:30 – 7:00 pm and prior to the service on Sunday, beginning at 1:30, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers assisting Doretha to her final resting place at Marshall Memorial Gardens, include Nick Alexander, Tim Alexander, Jessie Alexander, Eric Duke, Johnny Duke, and Luke Duke.
Mary Doretha “Dody” Alexander will forever be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and gentle spirit. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, her legacy living on in the hearts of those who loved her.
