Mary Delores Allen Denton – Obituary

Delores-Denton-1455363022Mary Delores Allen Denton, age 85, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, died Friday, February 12, 2016. The visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 14th from 1:00 until 3:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:30 p.m. Dwight Love, Matthew Reed, and Kenneth Reed will be officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Delores was a native of Tuscumbia, a retired bus driver, housewife, and mom. She was a member of Grace Covenant Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Paul Denton; parents, Grace Truman and William “Bill” David Allen; sister, Hazel Handley; and granddaughter, Danielle Denton.

Survivors include her sons; David Lee Young and wife Rhonda, James Ivan Denton and wife Carol, Matthew Allen Denton and wife Sandra, Cecil Ray Denton and wife Jane, daughters; Glenda Grace Hahn and fiancé Dale Gieselman and Denise Bond and husband Reed; twelve grand-children; Chad Denton, Erica Young Mayfield and husband Brandon, Maleah Young Hildreth and husband Rob, Bethany Grace Darnell, Adam Lee Smallwood, Alex Denton, Jeremy Denton, Noah Denton, Will Denton, Perry Corley, Joseph Wise and wife Katherine; eight great-grandchildren, Erin Denton, Katelyn Darnell, Christian Darnell, Landon Hildreth, Cole Hildreth, Claire Mayfield, Nora Mayfield, and Andrew Corley; nephew Eddie Bill Handley and wife Carolyn.

The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Jack McLendon for his loving care over the years and to the ICU staff at Helen Keller Hospital. Also, very special thanks to Dwight Love and his wife Susan for their endearing love and to her lifelong best friend Jean Ulhman.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
