Mary Dean Cummings, passed away in her home on May 21, 2024. She was born on May 24, 1932, to Carlton and Bessie Warren. She was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc, MS and was a graduate of Pontotoc Hugh School.
Mary Dean had a career of 56 years at First National Bank in Pontotoc. She was a member of West Heights Baptist Church.
Mary Dean took great pride in her yard. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her fish and cooking. She was an avid Mississippi State sports fan and had enjoyed her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her son, Steve Cummings of Coffeeville, MS, her daughter, Carla Lunn (Matt) of Pontotoc, MS, her grandson, Dr. Will Gentry (Elizabeth) of Neosho, Missouri, granddaughter, Katie Gentry Mounce (Nate) and her two great grandchildren, Mary Gentry Mounce and Boone Warren Gentry, and a sister, Kay Warren of Pontotoc, MS.
Mary Dean was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Shirley McCord and June Hatcher.
Pallbearers will be Scott Cummings, Dr. Jody Josey, Charlie Anderson, Dr. Neal Anderson, Ross Fleming, Mark Stegall, David Hall, Lee Hatcher and Scott Hatcher.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM and on Thursday from 5 to 6 PM, both at West Heights Baptist Church. The service will be at 6:00 PM, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at West Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
