Funeral services for Mary “Dean” Chambers Porter will be Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at Ryan Baptist Church, with Rev. Perry Knight and Rev. Terry Hudson officiating.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Porter passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at her residence.  She was born February 6, 1935 to Roy Seaborn and Myrtle Mabry Bennefield.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Ray Chambers; daughter, Bonnie Porter of Cullman; grandchildren, Gidget (Billy ) Gregory, Jessie Chad (Larissa) Chambers, Jillian (Ryan) Madole, Adam (Megan) Aker, and Jessica (Clint) Payne; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Jessie Edwards (JE) Chambers, and husband Earnest C. (EC) Porter; grandson, Jayce Chambers; brothers, Garvie Vernell (Lavada and Lois) Bennefield, Ottis Talmadge (Peggy) Bennefield, Doyle Othanial (Jean) Bennefield; sisters Lucille Icel (Conrad) Cargo, and Glenda Mae (Tim) Johnson.

Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice of Cullman county and a very special thank you to Tayrn Collins and Maci Howell with Gentiva Hospice. Special thanks also to Cullman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday at Cullman Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.  Mrs. Porter will lie in state at Ryan Baptist Church on Saturday, November 18th from 10-11 am, with the funeral following.

Pallbearers will be Chad Chambers, Billy Gregory, Ryan Madole, James Vickery, Adam Aker, and Jason Appleton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Leo, Roger Cobb, and Phillip Kilgo.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Gentiva Hospice of Cullman county.
