Ms. Mary “Christine” Reese, age 87, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Diversicare of Arab. Christine was born in Morgan County, Alabama on November 13, 1936. Her parents were Roy Cecil Brown and Rilla Jane Cook Brown. She was a lifetime resident of the Hulaco/Ryan community. Christine was married to the late Robert Bartow Reese. She loved to sew and was a long time employee of Blue Bell (Wrangler), which was one of the earliest companies in Arab to offer jobs to women. Christine retired from Atrion where she was an assembly line worker.
Family members Christine leaves behind to cherish memories include her daughter, Pam Bearden; grandchildren, Joshua Bearden and Jennifer Hanrion (Mark); great grandchildren, Allysa, Avery, Bryan, Kensley and Teagan; brothers, Cecil Brown (Sue) and Charles Brown (Becky); sister, Shirley Absher (Gary); and sister in law, June Brown.
Preceding Christine in death includes her husband, Robert Reese; parents Roy and Rilla Jane Brown; brother, Alton Brown; sisters, Joan Martin, Dorothy Cprek and Gloria Sue Leeth.
Services for Christine will be Friday, September 6, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab. Family, friends and guest will gather for a visitation time to share their cherished memories Friday afternoon beginning at 1:00pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Brother Randy L. Blakely officiating. Interment will be in the Union Hill First Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Cullman County. Serving as pallbearers are: Joey Brown, Dalton Absher, Josh Bearden, David Dunn and Mark Hanrion.
