Mary Catherine (Kate) Lappin, age 78 of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. A native of Franklin County, she was born on April 23, 1944, in Sherwood to the late Robert and Mattie (Holt) Morris. A dedicated homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and cooking. But most of all, she cherished the time spent with her beloved family. In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, George Lappin Sr; brother, Charles Morris; and sister, Elizabeth Jackson. She is survived by her loving son, George Lappin Jr of Sherwood; sister, Julie “Judy” Myles Thomas of Nashville; special daughters, Janice Green, Sarah (Jeff) Gore, and Savannah Green; special grandchildren, Andrew and Maddie Gore, and Adley Ryan; sister-in-law, Olline (Bobby) Summers; nieces, Cammie (Jerry) Olds, and Mary Frances (Jack) Nance; nephews, Robert Jackson and Stanley Jackson; and special companion, Lady Lappin. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Sherwood Epiphany Church. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 12 at Sherwood Epiphany Church.
