Mary “Catherine” Acuff

Mary “Catherine” Acuff, 85, passed into Heaven on July 4, 2022, following a struggle with cancer. She was born on October 4, 1936, in Hollytree, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Acuff, her mother, Ethel Bolinger, her father, Clyde Hall, sister, Martha Wilson, brother-in-law, Russell Wilson and grandson, Dylan Stogner. Catherine is survived by daughters, Teresa Smith (Jim), and Jennifer Stogner (Patrick); her grandchildren, Ashley Fann (Stacy), Malorie Orme (Jason), Mary Catherine Jerpi (Craig), Jackson Stogner, and Rachel Stogner Vevon (Blaise); great-grandchildren, Mattie Orme, Max Orme, Keller Orme, Warren Jerpi, Echo Jerpi; nieces, Pam Schrimsher (Sammy), and Kim Hollingsworth (Harley); nephew, Steve Wilson (Gigi); and multiple great nieces and nephews.

Catherine graduated from Butler High School 1955. She attended Sherwood Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Huntsville Women’s Bowling Associations Hall of Fame in 1997. Her first job was at City Drugs in downtown Huntsville where she worked as a pharmacy technician for many years and continued work at Bentley Drugs for most of her career. She loved to read, enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a passionate sports fan. She loved to watch sports of all kinds, especially Braves baseball, Alabama football and Auburn basketball. Her love and funny sense of humor will be missed by all!

Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2 with nephew Harley Hollingsworth officiating.
