Mary Carolyn Bridges, 75, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at the North MS Medical Center Hospice after a lengthy illness. She was born May 18, 1940 in Booneville to Roy and Edna Brown. She worked for Rockwell International as an accounting supervisor until she retired. A member of New Chapel Methodist Church, she served in many capacities including teaching Sunday School and helping with the food pantry. She was also active in her community, volunteering with the Alpha House. A prolific writer of poetry, Mary shared many of her poems with friends and family on special occasions. She and her husband, Donald, enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden and giving much of the produce away to neighbors and family members.
Services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Siloam Church in Prentiss County east of Booneville. Burial will follow in the Siloam Cemetery. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home and 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church.
Mary leaves behind her husband of over 50 years, Donald Bridges of Nettleton; 3 children, Donna Cordell (Michael) of Cleveland, TN, David Bridges of Plantersville, and Bradley Bridges (Michelle) of Tupelo; her sister, Frances Calton of Chicago; 4 grandchildren, Jacqueline Hayes, David Austin Bridges, Nikki Pannell, and Brandi Bridges; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Tulon Brown (Sophie), Laron Brown (Clarice), and Talbert Brown (Ann); and a sister, Betty Sue Dees (Alfred).
Pallbearers will be Michael Cordell, Austin Bridges, Chase Culver, Chase Burchfield, Tyler Jarvis, and Brad Gilmore.
