Mary Ann Cooksey departed this life on Monday, August 10, 2015, at the age of 92 years, 4 months, 24 days. She was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on March 17, 1923, the daughter of the late Oliver Clayton and Mary Elizabeth Whitten Henley. On July 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to James LC Cooksey, who preceded her in death on September 2, 1990.
Mary Ann was a supervisor at Garan Manufacturing. She enjoyed going to singings, dancing, and was an excellent seamstress. She was known for her homemade fried chicken and chocolate pies, canned pickles and made wonderful homemade soup. She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Adamsville and was the secretary for the Almagate Union.
Mary Ann is survived by a son, Ronnie Cooksey and wife, Janice of Adamsville, Tennessee; daughters-in-law, Sandra Cooksey of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Diane Cooksey of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tina Cooksey, Jonathan Cooksey and wife, Heather, Stephanie Cooksey Willoughby and husband, Allen, and Brian Cooksey; great- grandchildren, Cody Willoughby, Spencer Willoughby, Anna Beth Willoughby, Eli Cooksey, Zoe Cooksey, Emma Cooksey, and Josie Cooksey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Larry Wayne Cooksey and Richard Steve Cooksey; brothers, Lee Henley, James Henley, and Delta Henley; sisters, Lottie Starnes, Althaloue Smith, Laverne Henley, and Jo Hendrick; grandchildren, Larry Cooksey, Jr. and Tracy Lynn Cooksey.
