Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Rutherford, age 87, will be held on Friday,
August 6, 2021 at 10 AM in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5PM until 7PM.
Mrs. Rutherford, a retired 25 year employee of University of Tennessee Medical Center
in Memphis, passed away August 2, 2021 at South Baldwin Hospital in Foley, AL after a
brief illness. She was a resident of Humboldt, TN until recently and was a member of
New Shiloh Methodist Church in Humboldt.
Mrs Rutherford was an avid reader and cross stitcher, a member of the Humboldt Music
Club and especially enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rutherford and her parents Roger
and Alice Doerr.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Kay Thurman and husband Wayne, two sisters
Vera Sue Hanscom and Lynda Lou Sims and two nephews, Scottie Rodgers and Jason
“JJ” Sims.
