Mary Alice Baker Profile PhotoMary Alice Baker passed away on May 5th, 2023, in Williamsport, Tennessee. She was born on February 13th, 1961, in Columbia, Tennessee, to Frank James Irwin Jr. and Mary Carolyn Irwin.

Mary had a kind heart and showed incredible dedication to her job. She worked for the Maury County School Systems for 20 years as a bus driver and later worked for 12 years at the Senior Citizens Center. Mary Alice’s hard work ethic was a source of inspiration to many.

Mary loved children dearly and treated them as her own wherever she went. Her love and affection for kids were so great that many of them lovingly called her “Mimi.” Mary’s personality exemplified the warmth and compassion that made her stand out as an exceptional human being.

Apart from work, Mary loved to travel with her husband. She visited several places across the United States such as Wyoming’s National Parks, The Statue of Liberty, and The Grand Canyon. Whenever possible, she enjoyed taking many visits to the Smoky Mountains.

Mary will be dearly missed by her surviving family members and friends. They include, her loving husband of 39 years, Samuel Jerry Baker; Brothers: Franklin Ray Irwin, James Irwin, Bucky (Kerrie) Rowland; Sisters: Charlotte (Keith) Potts, Lisa (Mark) Sironen; Son: Justin (Heather) Lowery; Nieces: Tina (Matthew) Potts, Marissa (Jacob) Hutcherson, Ashlee (Alex) Brown, Karlee Rowland, Kortney Rowland, Lana (Shane) Brindley, Leslie Rodriguez, Kimberly Sherrell; Nephews: James F. Irwin, John T. Irwin, Joshua (Shelly) Potts, Joe Sironen, C.J. Baker,  Richie Baker, James “Bubba” Reed, Curtis (Shelley) Casteel, Benjamin “Benji”. Grandchildren: Lena Lowery, Piper Lowery, and Ruby Lowery. Along with her Grandchildren, Mary was also a loving “Mimi” to Jenna Hutcherson, Jakoby Hutcherson, Jaxon Hutcherson, Whitney Potts, Eli Potts, Audrey Irwin, Olivia Irwin, and Nathan Sironen. She was also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. The graveside service will take place the following day Friday, May 19th at 1:00 PM in the Garden of Good Shepherd at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be: Josh Potts, Jacob Hutcherson, Eli Potts, Curtis Baker, C.j. Baker, Richie Baker, Rodney Hunt, Joe Sironen, Alex Brown, John Irwin, and James Irwin

Mary’s unwavering kindness and selflessness have touched many lives. Her legacy is one of passion for helping others and spreading joy wherever she went. Mary will always be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her, and her loss will be felt deeply by all who loved her.
