Marvin Young Jr. “Coach Young”, 81, of Athens passed away at Athens Limestone Hospital on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
Mr. Young was born to Marvin Young Sr., and Lottie Higgins Young on August 22, 1941.
Mr. Young is survived by two daughters, Beth Rose (Charlie), Patricia Woods (Rick); one son Mike Young (Mary Beth); seven grandchildren Heather Balcerek (Jay), Brian Young, John Thomas Young (Margaret), Trent Young, Shane Morrow, Chase Rose and Julia Rose; two great grandchildren Thomas Young and Alice Young; as well as his faithful canine companion Buddy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Diane Young; and granddaughter Jessica Morrow.
Mr. Young was a dedicated teacher and coach for over 40 years. He was dedicated to his students, athletes, and family and will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be held March 24, 2023 at McConnell Funeral Home from 1 pm to 3pm with a memorial service following at 3pm.
