Marvin was born in Lawrence County on Decemeber 11,1939. His parents were Marvin Waugh Sr. (Dick) and Ruby Waugh. Marvin has a younger sister Kristy Waugh. He was raised up in the Caddo area of Lawrence County, where everyone knew him as “Poodle”, and he moved to Decatur in the mid-20’s, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a 1958 graduate of Trinity High School. He was married to Betty Jean Owens and they had one son, Jeffrey Scott Waugh. Marvin and Betty divorced in 1962. Later in 1962, he met and married Delphine French, and they were married for 55 years, until her death in 2018. Marvin and Delphine had one son, Michael Wayne Waugh, and one daughter, Rebecca Ann Waugh.
After high school, Marvin worked a variety of jobs, until 1965 when he went to work for Monsanto, where he worked until his retirement in 1996, with the majority of those years spent doing mechanical maintenance work. Marvin made many friends at Monsanto, and remained in touch with many of them throughout his retirement years.
Marvin’s main hoppy was a lifelong love for fishing, and he also enjoyed hunting. In line with his fishing, he also enjoyed having a fish fry. He also loved to grow tomatoes, perfecting his techniques through the years. His house was always open on Fall Saturdays for watching Alabama football games, and he also enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Marvin loved his family, and he will be sorely missed.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two sons, his daughter, six grandchildre: Daniel Jenkins, Amanda Waugh-Roberts, Alisha Waugh-White, Rachel Waugh-Crowell, Hunter Moore, and Meagan Moore, and nine great-grandchildren: Kelsey Jenkins, Kaylee Webb, Avery Webb, Cody Jenkins, Brodie Moore, Rowan Simpson, Noah Moore, James White, and Lily Moore.
Visitation for Marvin will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 11 AM till 12 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12 PM with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
