Funeral Services for Mr. Marvin L. Lanthrip, age 89 of Ashland, will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Bethel Christian Church in Ashland at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Wade Price and Bro. Ivor Smith officiating. Burial is in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Lanthrip passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Lineville Health and Rehab. He has been a lifelong Clay County Resident, and longtime member of Bethel Christian Church. He served as a deacon for some 40 years and also enjoyed singing in the choir and visiting folks. Marvin worked as a mechanic in the textile mills for over 40 years and enjoyed fishing when he could go. He was dedicated to his family and was so in love with his wife.
Mr. Lanthrip is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Lanthrip; daughters, Shelby Osbourn(Wayne) of Ashland and Elizabeth Ann Blankenship(Richie) of Alexander City; son, Timothy Marvin Lanthrip(Tina) of Alexander City; seven grandchildren: Sunshine Cragier(Casey), Dustin Osbourn(Kayla), Chris Lanthrip, Cody Lanthrip(Christina), Jackie Cooper, Kerri Blankenship and Joseph Blankenship; five great-grandchildren: Allie, Lydie, Shelby Grace, Ashton and Caroline; plus a large extended family and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Violet Lanthrip; grandson, Zachary Osbourn; great-grandchild Israel and his siblings, Jovon Jones, Paula Lanthrip, Edward Waites and Oliver Handley Lanthrip.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Anderson, Chris Taylor, Steve Burkhalter, Charlie Patterson, Duane Denney and Scott Tucker and Honorary Pallbearer Steve Gordon .
His visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
