Marvin Brasher Wood, 90, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at his home. He was born on April 21, 1926, in Sunflower, Mississippi to William Everett Wood and Sue Ratliffe Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marcille Ingram and brother, Thomas Everett Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Brown Wood; one brother, Gene L. Wood (Polly) of Decatur; one sister, Zona Sue Evans of Bellefontaine, Mississipi and several nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Omaha. He is a member of Rising Sun Lodge No. 29, Cahaba Shrine, Decatur Shrine Club, Mary Lou Dancy No. 320 OES and Central United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Don Foster, Kenneth Hall, Ken Hamilton, Maurice Means, Don Odom and Stan Fields.
Funeral will be Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with Reverend Gary Formby officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Sunrise Point Mausoleum, Memphis Memorial Park, Memphis, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital for Children.
