Martina “Tina” Lanza Sayers was born on November 19, 1949, at Huntsville Hospital. She attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School, Madison Academy and graduated from Huntsville High School Class of 1967. She attended Jacksonville State University for two years. After three years of battling cancer, she went to her home in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Lanza, in 2014.

She married Fred Sayers on June 20, 1970. They had three children, Martina, (Eric), Noelle, and Micah (Kimberly).

Tina was a devoted mother who loved to care for children. For 15 years she fostered approximately 40 newborn babies until they were adopted. When her first grandchild was born, her focus was upon him. Later, as more grandchildren were born, she began a 20-year career with Willowbrook Baptist Church working in childcare during services on Wednesday and Sunday. In 2015 she joined Willowbrook Early Education (WEE) and spent the next eight years caring for babies from six months to one year old. She retired in 2023.

Tina was called to eternal rest on May 26, 2024. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Surviving family includes her husband and children; mother, Peggy Lanza; three brothers, Vince (Lezlie), Chris (Vicky) and Jeff (Mark); ten grandchildren, Ethan, Jonah, Leah, Isaac, Blain, Lilah, Brooklyn, Lydia, Isabella, and Isaiah; and many nieces, nephews and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life service in the chapel.
