Martha Sue Bryant, 89, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at East Alabama Regional Hospital in Auburn. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Aldridge Grove Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with O. D. Bowling and Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on November 4, 1934 to the late Guy and Mildred Aldridge Montgomery, Martha was raised on a typical family cotton farm, graduated from Lawrence County High School, and Florence State Teachers College. She and husband John met in Moulton and married in April 1957. Martha’s life soon became that of supporting John in his professional career and 2 sons. John T. was born in Auburn in 1961 as her husband obtained a Master’s degree; David was born in Raleigh NC, in 1963 as John worked towards a Ph. D. in Agronomy and soils. More moving followed, to Atlanta, Chicago, Nebraska, Ozark AL, the Louisiana Delta and Seattle WA.

Throughout her life, Martha’s joy came from family and a fierce defense of Auburn football.

Survivors include her sons, John T. (Kelly) Bryant and David (Koreen) Bryant; grandchildren, Mazie Bryant, Camilla (David) Grisham, Selma Bryant; niece, Jan Wiley Smith; nephew, Steve Wiley; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, John Bryant; parents; and sister, Mary Ann Wiley.
