Martha Roberts Brown, 84, passed away at her home on November 22, 2023, after a short illness.

Martha was born on February 17, 1939, to E.R. Roberts and Lois Kracke Roberts in Hartselle, Alabama.

She graduated from Morgan County High School, where she was Homecoming Queen, a majorette, band captain, and was elected to girl’s state. Martha also graduated from Huntingdon College with a degree in Education. While studying at Huntingdon, Martha met the love of her life, Donald Brown, of Dothan, AL. Their lifelong marriage was filled with so much love, and of course laughter. Martha taught at F.E. Burleson Elementary for 30 years, where she was known for being a prankster and the tooth fairy. Any student with a loose tooth would go to find Mrs. M. Brown to pull it. Until the day she passed, Martha still could remember every student she ever taught.

Later in life after retirement, Martha and her husband, Don, spent many years residing at their favorite place, Gulf Shores.  Together, they lived the best life with frequent visits and time spent there with family. Martha enjoyed spending every day and going out to eat with her family. Her greatest joy was her daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson-in-law, and two great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Brown; her parents, E.R. Roberts and Lois Kracke Roberts; a brother, Hal Roberts.

She is survived by her daughter: Beth Emerson (Kevin), grandchild Megan Eubanks (Zeke), great grandchildren Emory & Ellie Eubanks.

A Private family memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.

The family would like to give a big “Thank You” to the Summerford Rehab Facility staff for the exceptional care they provided to Martha “Nana”.
