Martha Rhea DyerA celebration of life service for Martha Rhea Dyer will be Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Martha passed away peacefully, June 6th, 2024, surrounded by family at her home in Hartselle, AL. She was born January 8th, 1939, to Walter Samuel Wright and Mary Jane Wright (both deceased) as the oldest daughter of six siblings: Virgil Wright (deceased), Barbara Norwood (deceased), Gloria Russell, Jesse Wright (deceased), and Helen Johnson.
Martha was a pillar of her community who was known as a matriarch to all her family, a source of spirituality, guidance, and love. She retired from the Hartselle school system after more than 20 years of service.
She was married and preceded in death by David Grady Dyer. She was blessed with three children and their marriages: David Lavaughn Dyer (deceased) and Alice Shull, Debra Rhea Barnett (deceased), and Samuel Taylor Dyer and Beverly Overby Dyer, currently of North Carolina.
Together David and Martha started a wonderful, adventurous life and family through his service in the US Navy. After much travel, the family settled in Hartselle where David and Martha lived the rest of their lives.
Martha is also survived by seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Chuck Free, Mary Richey, with her children Ethan, Curt, and Grace, Stephen Barnett and his child Elaine, Britt Coleman, Elisabeth Shull, Sarah Dyer, Grady Dyer and his children Phoebe and Elijah.
