Martha Pearl Brown Hunt, 85, went to her eternal Heavenly home on Thursday, June 22, 2023. She was the daughter of Cecil Nelph Brown and Lola Barber Brown, born on May 11, 1938, in Itawamba. On April 18, 1954, at the age of 15 years old, she married Joe Earl Hunt. They spent 68 years together before his death in 2021. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Living Water Community Church member.
Martha spent the majority of her professional career in garment manufacturing. With her nimble fingers and keen eye for detail, she was a truly gifted seamstress. Her creations were more than mere garments; they were exquisite works of art, meticulously crafted with love and precision.
Martha leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, unwavering work ethic, and a servant’s heart that touched the lives of those around her. Martha found immense joy and fulfillment in cooking for others. Whether it was a family meal enjoying her biscuits and gravy, a gathering of friends, or a church fish fry, Martha’s culinary skills were well-known. Martha lived an exemplary life, serving others. She loved without conditions and served without expecting anything in return.
Martha is survived by her four children, Lola Padgett and her husband, Larry, of Saint Augustine, Florida, David Hunt and his wife, Kathleen, of Eggville Community, Ruth Ann Osborne and her husband, Bruce, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Tammy Cherry and her husband, Bill, of Mantachie; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Powell; and niece and nephew, Annette Witt and Allen Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Earl Hunt; parents, Cecil and Lola Brown; sister, Ann Osberg; and brother, Cecil Brown.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Living Water Community Church.
Services honoring Martha’s life will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Living Water Community Church with Rev. Tommy Galloway and Rev. Thomas Galloway officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hunt, Jordan Hunt, Dakota Cherry, Hunter Cherry, Steve Hunt, and Perry Wilburn.
