Martha (Marti) Murphy

Martha (Marti) Murphy was a devoted sister, a loving grandmother, a gracious friend, a fabulous, a caring coworker, a strong woman, and the most amazing mother. She inspired everyone she met. One may attempt to cook a new recipe after hearing her gloat about her favorite foods. One might go to a race at Talladega after hearing her rave about Tony Stewart. People were just better after having met her. She made sure her children were always safe, requiring them to call once they arrived home or talking to her daughter every night before bed. She loved the Lord and was quick to offer a prayer for anyone in need. She loved unabashedly. She was always the caretaker, ensuring her family was taken care of. Her greatest accomplishment was recently becoming a grandmother of five. “Grammy” was her proudest title.

Marti, 66, passed away surrounded by family on April 30, 2021. She resided in Huntsville, AL, so she could remain close to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene Borden Floyd; her father, Joseph Leroy Floyd; her sister, Deveda Lee of Corinth, Miss, and Amber (her bobtailed, orange tabby cat). Marti is survived by her two children, Joshua Dale Murphy (Nicole) of Ardmore, TN and Miranda Justus (Tad) of Madison, AL. The light-of-her-life grandchildren are Sabrina Murphy, Gunner Murphy, Adeline Murphy, Amaya Murphy, and Quinn Justus. Her surviving sisters are Wendy Eversole (Craig) and Patricia Lancaster (Honnel).

Marti’s Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 4-6 pm at Hampton Cove Funeral Home. Flowers can be sent to Hampton Cove Funeral Home and donations can be made to Peaceloveandanimals.com in her honor.
