  Martha Lynn Dowsley Profile PhotoMartha Lynn Dowsley, 97, of Humboldt, Tennessee, peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 23, 2024, at home. She now rests with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Faith Community Church, Humboldt, Tennessee, with the Reverend Glenn Miller officiating.

Born June 25, 1927, in Newbern, Tennessee, to the late J.D. and Isabel Scobey Cole, Lynn moved to Humboldt as a young child. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1945. At 16, she met a dashing young Army Airman on a train, and on June 8, 1946, Lynn married Felix R. Dowsley. They raised their family in Humboldt, where Lynn was active in the First Presbyterian Church, now Faith Community Church.

Lynn was a devoted member of her prayer group and a caring leader in the Humboldt faith community. She was a talented bridge player and cherished The Eighteen Member book club, where she was a member for over sixty years. Lynn loved her Lord, her husband and children, and her many friends. She was an amazing cook, a remarkable storyteller, and always maintained a great sense of humor.

Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Felix R. Dowsley, her beloved daughter, Susan Scobey Dowsley, and her dear sister, Carole Cole Clark, Lynn is survived by two sons: J. Cole Dowsley (Connie) and Felix R. Dowsley III (Susie); eight grandchildren: Catherine Payne (Jay), Clayton Cooper (Dana), Cole Dowsley Jr. (Nicole), Joseph Dowsley (Sarah), Ashley Dowsley, Felix S. Dowsley (Anna), Gray Dowsley (Kelsea), and Jude Kelley; ten great-grandchildren: Davis, Caldwell, Collins, Forrest, and Crew Payne; Carolyn, Anna, and Eben Dowsley; Miles Dowsley and Felix P. Dowsley.

SERVICES: A visitation honoring the life of Mrs. Dowsley will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Faith Community Church in Humboldt, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and continuing until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will follow the service in Rosehill Cemetery

The family requests that memorials be directed to Faith Community Church, 1528 Presbyterian Drive, Humboldt, TN 38343, or to a charity of your choice.
